The Galaxy Australasia Meeting 2017 (GAMe2017) will be held at LAB-14, 700 Swanston St, University of Melbourne, Carlton, in Victoria, Australia.
Widely known as the most liveable city in the world (we win the award, year after year) here’s the excuse you needed to visit Melbourne! Victoria’s coastal capital, Melbourne is a city of stately 19th-century buildings and tree-lined boulevards. Yet at its centre is the strikingly modern Federation Square, with bars and restaurants surrounded by notable street and public art offerings down laneways and along the Yarra River. The Melbourne Arts Precinct is a hub of cultural activities with a busy performing arts complex and vibrant art galleries. The beach and forest is never far from the city, but the real natural beauty can be seen with a day trip out in any direction. Make sure you share Melbournians’ passion for sport, food and coffee while you’re here.
The University of Melbourne
Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a public-spirited institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research, learning and teaching, and engagement. It’s consistently ranked among the leading universities in the world, with international rankings of world universities placing it as number 1 in Australia and number 33 in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016). The beautiful Parkville campus is a blend of modern and Baroque style Victorian architecture wonders from the 1800s, and houses over 30 stunning galleries, museums, historical and cultural collections. We host a broad range of cultural programs throughout the year, contributing to Melbourne’s lively artistic and cultural life.
